Mary’s Cradle is located at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bluefield, West Virginia. Mary’s Cradle is a ministry of the Bluefield Cooperative Parish which consists of 5 churches: Bland Street United Methodist Church, Grace United Methodist Church, John Stewart United Methodist Church, Thompson Chapel United Methodist Church, and Trinity United Methodist Church.
It is our profound wish to honor and value each person who is served by Mary’s Cradle and we strive to benefit all infants and children through our service to their parents and/or guardians.
Mary’s Cradle is able to serve because many persons have donated funds, maternity clothes and baby items for over a dozen years. When you receive a furnishing, please remember if you can bring it back in gently used, clean condition, we can use it again to bless another family.
Our services include assistance for pregnant women, infants, and toddlers. We provide layettes for newborns: supplies that mothers need when coming home from the hospital with a new baby: sleepers, receiving blankets, diapers, toiletries, wipes, and more. We also provide diapers one additional time for each child… so each child can receive diapers two times per year. We have maternity clothes to share, and outfits for infants up to 4T in size. We also “re-cycle” gently worn shoes, pajamas, hats, mittens, and basically anything from which an infant or toddler could benefit. In addition to clothes we also supply infant furnishings when available. We offer resource books about pregnancy, raising healthy children, and children with special needs. We also have children's books to help you begin your own family library. If you are in need of an item (such as a crib, and infant or toddler car seat, walker, high chair, etc.), we will either loan you the item or place you on a waiting list. This is not a guarantee that you will receive the item but when items are donated or returned to us, we will contact you in the order of the list. Please keep us informed of any change in your contact information, as it will allow us to better meet your needs.
We work closely with several local agencies including Right from the Start, Starting Points, Birth to Three, WIC, and others. We respond to needs communicated through care workers from these agencies. We will do everything we can to assist you in meeting your needs. We also take seriously issues of privacy. However, you do not need a referral to receive services from us.
We can always use assistance through volunteers. Some of our best workers have been clients, and we would love to have your help! God bless you!
